Cake and Bake Show, Harrogate!
Today I attended the Cake and Bake Show in Harrogate for the first time with my mum. It was a lot like the BBC Good Food Show, but smaller, more local stores and a baking competition. The competition got lots of entries and different types, like a pug, a baking scene, london theme, literacy theme, a Mr. Tickle cake and a Off to Neverland scene. My personal favourite! The nice touch was the charities there like cats and dogs charity, Yorkshire Cancer Research and Make a Wish. I got to Bake a Wish! The usual stuff was there, knives, olives, chocolates, gin (yes we had some!), heck sausages and a Big Bakery. Where mum bought me the biggest gingerbread, I’ve ever seen!! We saw Eric Lanlard make some chocolatey dessert, Rosemary Shrager make a salmon en croute, Wendy Richards walking around, we peeked through to see John Whaite do a demonstration, saw Shelia Jones make a cake and met Charlotte White who decorated a delicious Red Velvet Cake!!!! Meeting Charlotte was brilliant, I got hold of a copy called Restoration Bake, seen her a few times doing appearances. Her cakes are different and inspiring. Her class gave the impression that anyone could bake and give it ago. I once iced an cake, it looked awful that it put me off. Though between me and my mum, we probably have all the tools together. It’s made me rethink and see if I could pick this up again. You never know it could be my thing, I like baking cakes just never know to decorate! I’m setting myself a challenge to learn this skill by the time I’m 30!! Overall successful day, worth going! Check out the website, for more shows across the UK http://www.thecakeandbakeshow.co.uk/
