Going for a wander: London
I spent the day in London, last week. Whenever I think of London, I think I should go see Buckingham Palace, go see Big Ben or London Eye or even visit a museum I’ve been to before. I’ve been travelling up and down to London since I was 13 years old. My dad moved down there for work and lived in North London and over the years moved to South West. Over the years we have done the normal things, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, British Museum and Science Musuem, Convent Garden, Leicester Square and much more I can’t remember. So yesterday, I did the things I love….
It started on Oxford Street, well Disney Store, yet again it disappointed me, there’s only so many times you can buy a plush! I wandered around, got some photos and enjoyed seeing kids get all excited. One thing I wish to experience is my nephew getting all excited seeing Mickey. Leaving Disney I wandered up to Selfridges where I wandered around the food court. I love food courts, seeing all the different produce, imagining the recipes you can make. The prices are so expensive.
Working for Disney, a lot of my feeds on social network is taking up by people posting pictures of things they’ve done in Disney or going to do, eating, drinking or buying. I thought I would join them, so I jumped on the tube and headed for Harrods.
Harrods opened a Disney store, disney cafe and a Bibbidi Bobidi Boutique, where little girls can become princesses or boys become knights. Whilst seeing the cafe, to be fair I wasn’t impressed with it. It was nothing like being at a Chef Mickeys. Bibbidi Bobidi Boutique looked the same, but couldn’t get in to look around 😦 Onto Toy land, which was fun!
Next, I went to Shoe Heaven where a nice lady allowed me to try on a pair of Manolo Blahnik, where a nice lady allowed me to try on the Carrie Bradshaw Shoe. The shoe Mr Big proposed with in a dream walk-in closet. On to Super brands floor, walking around Dolce and Gabana, Dior, Valentino and Channel. Enough clothes shopping, it was onto their food hall, but sadly nothing bought except a £2 bottle of water. Realising I couldn’t afford anything it was off to Leicester Square.
Arriving in Leicester Square, it was busy. Another thing I see on my feeds, is people eating in restaurants brought to the UK, or shopping in american shops. Now wandering around Leicester Square, I was disappointed, Nickelodeon’s shop was small and similar to Disney, all about the children! M&M world was mad, too much items, not a lot to buy but the free samples helped. Buppa Gumps shop was ok and the menu looked the same, maybe another time! Planet Hollywood was where I headed to, cocktail drinking in London is a must. So a nice refreshing Gin cocktail, a bag of crisps, WiFi and a plug!!
Two hours left in London, I headed to Hamleys, after spotting a spinning burger, harry potter replicas and a lego size queen, I was done and it was very hot!!!! Onto my favourite street, Carnaby Street. The street with bars off to the side, 60s inspired shops, quirky shops like Irregular Choice Shoes, Pylones, Vans Shoes, Benefit and ChoccyWoccyDooDah for a sneaky free sample. The time went quickly, it was onto Waterloo and to head back to my Dads and his wife’s house.
Quick trip around London, made me fall back in love with the city…….. but it made me think could I live here? Maybe? Would I want to, who knows! If you live in London or your going soon, I hope you enjoy your time, remember to do the things you love. I certainly did, Disney, food halls, Carnaby Street and shoes!
