Restaurant Review: Thai Shop, Maidenhead
I love the Thai Shop in Maidenhead. A part shop, part restaurant establishment selling different Thai dishes. You wouldn’t know it was there, if you walked past. I could definitely imagine Guy Fieri visiting here on Diners, Drive-in and Dives. The shop has plastic chairs and tables mixed in with stands of foods and odd fridge and freezer. The back of the store, has a kitchen and food counter, which serves four to five main dishes including rice and noodles and spring rolls.
The flavour of each dish and the amount you get is not worth complaining about. I always feel value for money as a main dish costs £5 and you get a lot for your money. Each day there is something new to have.
My favourite is the Chicken Pad Thai. Tender chicken, bean sprouts, carrots, stir fried noodles mixed together with a light chilli sauce. Having both the option to take out or eat in, is always good, but one criticism would be that they need to do a large takeaway box like eating in.
Another popular dish I’ve had a few times is the Masaman curry. This curry is hotter then a green or red thai curry. It personally has a depth of flavour and I like the spiciness of this dish, however you definitely need the rice to cool it down. I know others who have eaten this and don’t find it hot or spicy.
I’ve never been to Thailand, but I’ve eaten in many Thai restaurants, this one is one of the best. I fully recommend it to anyone in Maidenhead wanting to try something new and tasty to eat. Its actually one thing I miss about working in my last job, is able to go here for lunch.
