2016 Food festival season has started…
The season of food festivals has officially began, with a tweet informing me about this years Foodies Festival guide. Like at Christmas time, I look forward to tasting my first mince pie, watching Tim Allen’s Santa Clause and hearing the Salvation Army. At this time of year, I look forward to the season of food festivals. Going to a destination and seeing it full of new products and new businesses. Tasting the different types of food on offer and discovering new exciting ones like BBQ Bacon Scotch Eggs. I discovered this delicious item at last year’s Woking Food Festival. It’s not all about the new, because I like to see regular foods on offer too, like different breads, fudge, chutneys, salad dressings and garlic to try. I love seeing demonstrations of food being made from celebrities, like Charlotte White, who I was lucky to meet last year.
Food festivals, are not new to me as I’ve been attending them since a young age. My first vivid one I remember is going to the Good Food Show, for a school trip and meeting Gary Rhodes taking his cookbook and getting it signed. Since then I’m lucky enough to have met some amazing chefs, like Gary Rhodes, Rosemary Shrager, James Martin, Hairy Bikers to name a few.
I love going to them. Discovering new foods. Discovering new trends in foods and tasting them too. Like London House Restaurant in Woking Smoked Haddock Beignets, which were delicious. I will keep you updated on the ones which I go too this year and report on what I love and hate.
