Sprit of Summer – Marks and Spencer Summer Range

Marks and Spencer have brought out their new Spirit of Summer range for 2016. Previous years they have done the Best of British and Taste of Summer. This year aim is to bring vibrant colourful food inspired from across the Americas. The range has a combination of starters, mains, desserts, snacks and drinks and so much more.

I thought I would share some of the food which I have been having.

The chicken and chorizo empanadas and the pulled pork pastries are mouth-watering delicious snacks. However the pulled pork has a salty taste which might be off putting. The tiger prawn lollipops are have so much flavour you just cannot help but find them irresistible.

We also had the trio of dips including a delicious beetroot, roast carrot and coriander pea and mint and tortilla chips.

A few weeks back, we had a family BBQ where we tried their posh dog buns. A combination of brioche and regular hot dog buns are deliciously soft and perfect for sausages.

These tropical fruit flavoured jaffa cakes have been popular in work and a refreshing chocolate snack to help with those

As the weather has been so nice, we’ve also tried the beer can chicken, fruit bbq pork kebabs with pineapple salsa, the tequila lime chicken wings and bbq ribs are all delicious. I personally liked the ribs, as they weren’t greasy and had a lot of meat on them, unlike other shop bought brands I’ve tried. I liked the monterrey jack cheese too, it has a kick to it.

For deserts and sweets, the passion fruit swiss roll is a pleasant fruity flavour dessert which was light and fluffy. My favourite so far is the salted caramel sunken cheesecake. I love salted caramel, but this cheesecake is heavenly. It’s a lighter cheesecake with a gooey middle filed with malt balls and salted caramel sauce.

I think overall Marks and Spencer have come out with a range which has lots of variety, tastes and flavours. There is something for everyone. I want to go ahead and try more of the range as there’s nothing I’ve disliked. Especially with summer coming up and BBQs happening a lot here. I’m looking forward to trying the chilli sweets and chocolate more and the meats. Marks and Spencer may have a reputation for been high in price, when you look you can get some great deals!
