Going back to school…. one last time!
Last week, my old secondary school put on their last drama performance. It was a celebration of a final goodbye to the school. The majority of the school is getting knocked down and being replaced. I’m not surprised as it’s been around since the 1970s. Seeing through not only my generation, but older generations including parents of my friends, brownies who are now at university and brownies who have just joined the school.
Looking back at school, it wasn’t the happiest time or my favourite time of my childhood. The best times at school is when the bell went at home time. I wasn’t the child who loved to study, or enjoyed sports or music. I didn’t have a click of friends, but I knew a lot of people. I was pleased to leave on my last day, there was no sadness. I was ready to leave.
Fifteen years later when I found out I got a chance to wander around again, going back to old classrooms, seeing teachers, I couldn’t not go. Telling friends about it we decided to go back and have a fun night…. and that is what we did!
