Keeping Volunteers!

I’ve been a volunteer since age 13 when I first became a pack leader for a brownie pack. Since then I have carried on gaining my adult warrant. This has inspired me to volunteer with charities, whether in a shop or taking part in an events, given time up to help others and even litter picking.

One of the things which annoys me, is that when you go to volunteer, you sign up, have that enthusiasm and no one contacts you back to take you up on your offer.

Recently I have been wanting to put my spare time for more use, to help with organisations to give my time and to support them in anyway I can. However when they don’t contact yourself, even with a simple reply. It just annoys me and makes me think about how many chairties do this and how many volunteers they loose.

Volunteers are people like you and me, we have limited time to volunteer, we are enthusiastic but when this is not recognised it deflates quickly we loose interest and don’t want to give our time up.

For that simplicity of sending a reply, getting in contact, explaining the situation they loose another volunteer. Who knows if they be any good or if they want to take it further or just do it for a short them. Without contacting them you’ll never know…
