Pleased to Meet You – Newcastle
Learning about this bar called Pleased to Meet You, I was intrigued to visit and go try some Gin. Going to the toon, meeting up with my own Fairy Godmother, she said let’s go!
With a sophisticated exterior, set off the main street down an alley way in Newcastle near the famous Tyne Theatre we walked in. Walking in you see the brickwork all exposed, pipework throughout all in a large open space. The bar area was stretched all down the left hand side wall, with Gin bottles, craft beer and much more to see. The bar had lots of seating, with metal seats and tables to give that rustic feel.
Flicking through the menu, all you see is lots of choices of Gins from the basics, to flavour ones, cocktails, straight up and mixers. The cocktails looked amazing including one called Monkeys Beard. As there was so many to chose from the bartender was eager to help us. He asked us what we like and flavours. We decided to try the Monkey 47 which comes from Germany with blackberry to give fruity taste and Fentimans tonic. I love the brand Fentimans not because it’s Northern, but they produce Sarsaparilla.
We took our seats near the window so we can people watch. The bar was open spaced and gave us both a time to chat and catch up and not have to scream over music. Although we went on a lunchtime it didn’t start to get busy before we left to head somewhere else for food. The bar looked liked somewhere where I would go after work or for a quickie at lunchtime. Flicking through the menu on the table, the lunch menu looked reasonable and delicious, when next in the toon I would go back.
I loved this bar and so pleased I got the chance to go. Definitely want to go back and try more of the gins especially some of the Craft Gins. If you’re in the toon I fully recommend to go to this bar and see it for yourself.
