Restaurant Review: Tortilla Mexican, Guildford
It’s no secret on this blog that I love Mexican food. When out shopping again in Guildford, we came across a restaurant called Tortilla. We decided to stop there and have something to eat.
Tortilla promises it is different. On its website, it claims to be the ‘home of the best tacos and burritos.’ It’s a big statement, and although I can’t be the one to say it is, what I can tell you is that it is an inexpensive and satisfying place to eat.
Tortilla restaurant is set off the main high street on Friary Street. Friary Street there is lots of restaurants to choose from including Yo Sushi, Wagamama, Five Guys and Gourmet Burger Kitchen. Tortilla had a bright outside with many people sitting down to eat.
Walking in it is bright and airy. The main section on where you order and see your food been cooked straight in front of you. The menu has three main options including burritos, quesadilla, tacos, steak and chicken. I decided to go for the tacos, on three corn bread tacos. As there’s lots of choice from meat, vegetables, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce and beans. I decided to go for pulled pork and everything on top. For drink I went for a Mexican lemon style Fanta.
The tacos were satisfying delicious however extremely messy to eat with sauce dribbling down my face. The flavor in the dish was fresh with the pickled onions, sweetcorn, guacamole and salsa. Their statement says that they claim to have the best tacos and burritos, I think this is partially true. Like other restaurants such as Bite cafe in Windsor and Araceli’s in Woking, it has fresh tastes and satisfy my Mexican taste buds.
Overall I liked Tortilla’s interior with their bright inside, a counter where you can see what has been made. The tacos and drink costed £10, which I thought was reasonable considering the amount of food you get. I would definitely consider going to other branches like Richmond, Kingston, Hammersmith etc.
