Being an auntie….

Thinking a lot about my nephews, Josh and Eoin.

Even though I’m just their auntie. I still want them to share and have memories like I did growing up with their mum. I know their mum will do this as these shared memories are what we have together to look back on. Like going to a boating lake, meeting Santa, being involved in groups, visiting family and sharing family moments.

I know there are some things they’ll miss out on and will never experience as time moves on and people change. Though it’s sad you have to think positively about what new things they will have. Like I believe all new opportunities cannot be missed.

It’s not always about big expensive theme park days out or buying presents but the little things. Like doing stuff in the kitchen, going for a walk or simply feeding birds or having a meal out shouldn’t be rejected. It’s about having those memories together and looking back on when their older. When you think about it anytime spent with them is a good thing, even if it’s just for an hour or two.

I will always be proud to be their Auntie and will never let my feelings get in the way of spending time with them.
