Look at animals kindly and they will see. Talk to animals gently and they will listen. A.D. Williams

I once read that petting animals, can help your mental health as animals have a power to help us keep calm and able to reflect. I’ve been lucky enough to have met some pretty amazing animals. From friends dogs, to in a zoo and at animal sanctuary parks. I thought I would share some of my favourite places I’ve been too.

The first one I loved and got to do whilst living in Florida, was Discovery Cove. This animal sanctuary in Florida has a dolphin space where you can get up and close with them. It’s an amazing day out as you can snorkel with sting ways, avairy centre and Dolphin cove. Kissing a dolphin was something I will remember for ages and thinking how rubbery this was.

Living in Florida, I was able to visit SeaWorld and Animal Kingdom. Animal Kingdom isn’t my favourite park, I like Everest and Festival of Lion King but that’s about it. Kilimanjaro Safari is based there, even though it’s fun to do during the day. For me I liked doing the twilight tour of this ride.

Seaworld was always a fun park to go to. One reason was when I was there the Budweiser tasting zone and the Seasame Street zone. The Shamu theatre zone was a favourite especially with the song, as it always made (still does) make me cry. I think it’s because they honour service men and women.

Living in Chester, I visited Chester Zoo on a few occasions. I’m not a fan of this one, I didn’t like when I saw a lion walk around and looked caged in. Since becoming an auntie, my nephews have showed me another side of them. I’m still not a fan of zoo’s, I don’t like the idea of seeing them feeling like caged in. I like the idea of the boys seeing a Giraffe. That’s why I enjoyed my time at Cotswold Wildlife Park, as the animals were open and free and looked happy to be there. Chester Zoo will always hold a special place to me, as I got to spend time with friends there, had a few dates there and got to know my brother-in-law.

Whilst at university, I worked for Blue Planet Aquarium and I was a visitor presenter. I got to talk about the animals, my favourite zone was the otters, the rays or the ducks. I got to promote the aquarium by being there mascot Charlie the Clownfish. It was a lot of fun and I fully enjoyed me time.
